Background

Agile Digital’s partnership with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) to upgrade and sustain the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) Operational Reporting System (ORS) involves providing robust support for heritage enterprise application software. Originally engaged in 2017 and again in 2022, Agile Digital have enhanced this important system that tracks Australia’s emissions, emphasising cybersecurity, uptime, and policy compliance. Our works have included:

  • Cybersecurity Uplift: Rapid enhancements for security standards compliance.
  • Automated Systems Management: Streamlined maintenance and updates.
  • Strategic Resource Allocation: Optimised DevOps team efforts for issue resolution.
  • Business Alignment: Addressed backlogs for strategic goals, enhancing operability and security.
  • Quality and Operational Improvements: Instituted preventative maintenance and testing to minimise incidents.

Outcomes

  • Enhanced public access security, overcoming TLS issues for modern browser compatibility, aligning with Essential 8 security guidelines.
  • Achieved operational excellence, reducing risks and costs while reallocating resources for platform enhancements.

Ethical Commitment

Guided by fairness, honesty, and integrity, we proactively advised on sustainability and security, supporting informed decision-making for social and environmental benefits.

Sustainable Impact

Our efforts not only reduced operational costs, allowing for system improvements but also bolstered public trust in the NPI’s environmental commitment. This forward-looking approach ensures the NPI ORS’s resilience against evolving threats, demonstrating our capacity to maintain and enhance legacy systems critical to public policy and environmental stewardship.
